Project:
Creation of a continuity of a bridge connecting the city and the Sauvabelin wood in Lausanne, Switzerland
Theme and place:
The Sauvabelin wood is a forest of more than 80 hectares. It is known for its panorama which can be appreciated since its signal, of which a large part of the city is visible. From this signal is drawn on January 24, on the occasion of the anniversary of the independence of the canton of Vaud, cannon shots.
A little further up, in the middle of the forest, was built in 2003 a wooden tower from the top of which one dominates not only the city but the northern regions, invisible since the signal.
The Sauvabelin wood represents the limit of the gardens of the Fondation de l'Hermitage, Lausanne museum
Architectural principle:
Use of the Sallaz bridge that was already created to have a continuity in the traffic between the city and wood.
Aesthetic concept:
Continuity of the design of the existing bridge and creation of circulation and rest area with view on the city and the mountains.

"It is a rule that the architecture of a building is adapted to its destination in such a way that this destination denounces itself to the only aspect of the building."
- Victor Hugo
